Mumbai, February 20: Tech Mahindra has announced a strategic partnership with NVIDIA to launch a Hindi-first artificial intelligence model specifically designed for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. This initiative is developed to improve access to technical learning for non-English-speaking students across India by removing linguistic barriers in academic environments.
The new AI platform allows students to engage with complex subjects by asking questions and seeking detailed explanations in Hindi. By focusing on primary language accessibility, the companies aim to increase participation in technology-led learning for students who may previously have been limited by the predominance of English-language content in technical fields. India-Specific Datasets and Infrastructure
The model is trained on academic and contextual datasets relevant to the Indian landscape, ensuring that the explanations and learning support provided are locally aligned. The infrastructure is designed to assist a wide range of users, including those in schools, higher education institutions, skill-development centres, and various digital learning platforms.
John Fanelli, Vice President of Enterprise Software at NVIDIA, stated that the global push for sovereign AI is accelerating the demand for foundation models tailored to local languages and cultural contexts. He noted that by leveraging NVIDIA AI Enterprise, Tech Mahindra is delivering the performance and scale required to power Project Indus.
Digital Inclusion and Future Deployment
This collaboration combines the digital engineering capabilities of Tech Mahindra with the advanced AI computing platforms provided by NVIDIA. The initiative aligns with broader national efforts to promote AI adoption and digital inclusion, ensuring that students possess future-ready skills regardless of their primary language. ‘Bad Experience’: Renowned AI Researcher Sara Hooker Misses Gala Dinner With PM Narendra Modi After 4-Hour Delhi Traffic Jam.
While the model represents a significant step in localised AI, further details regarding the specific deployment timelines and upcoming institutional partnerships are expected to be shared at a later stage. The project remains a central part of the efforts to democratise technical education through high-performance computing.
