A New York school board vice president has been arrested and charged after federal authorities alleged that child s*xual abuse material (CSAM) was found on his cellphone during an investigation.

Travis Barr Longo, 46, of Cazenovia, New York, was taken into custody after state troopers seized his phone and allegedly discovered multiple images and videos depicting child s*xual abuse, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York. Prosecutors said Longo received the material from other users through an internet-based messaging application. US: Couple Arrested After Allegedly Grooming 14-Year-Old for S*x in Michigan.

Longo serves as vice president of the Cazenovia Central School District Board of Education. He appeared in federal court on Saturday, June 20, and was ordered detained pending further proceedings.

School Board Seeks Resignation of Travis Barr Longo

Following the arrest, the Cazenovia Central School District Board of Education called for Longo’s immediate resignation and said it would pursue formal removal procedures if he did not step down voluntarily. Nebraska S*x Trafficking Bust: Gujarati Woman Used Hidden Hotel Cameras To Monitor S*xual Abuse of 2 Teenage Girls Live.

“We unanimously agreed to a swift and decisive process to demand Mr. Longo’s resignation, as this is the most expedient way to remove him from the Board, effective immediately,” the board said in a statement. “The Board of Education has been shocked, deeply saddened, and outraged by these serious allegations,” the statement continued.

The district reportedly gave Longo until noon Monday to resign before additional action would be taken. It was not immediately clear whether he met that deadline.

Longo was also involved in local community initiatives, including founding Cazenovia Pride Fest, which later evolved into the nonprofit organization Cazenovia Pride. Following news of the allegations, members of the organization announced the cancellation of an upcoming Pride festival.

“I feel betrayed,” Danielle Synborski, the group’s president, told WSYR. “This organization is because of the work that Travis did to start the festival six years ago, and we saw a need that our non-profit could meet.”

Federal prosecutors said Longo faces serious criminal penalties if convicted. According to authorities, each charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to USD 250,000.

Prosecutors also said he could face a supervised release term ranging from at least five years to life. Authorities stated that he would be required to register as a s*x offender following any prison sentence imposed as a result of a conviction.

Federal investigators emphasized the importance of protecting children and pursuing cases involving child exploitation.

“These allegations against a school board vice president strike at the heart of parents’ trust and fears. For HSI Syracuse and our law enforcement partners, protecting children is not just a duty—it’s personal,” Homeland Security Investigations Buffalo Acting Special Agent in Charge Anthony Patrone said in a statement.

“Together with our law enforcement partners, we will aggressively pursue anyone who endangers children, so parents can send their kids to school knowing they are safe,” Patrone added.

The case remains ongoing, and federal prosecutors have not released additional details about the investigation. As with all criminal cases, the charges against Longo are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
