Triple Talaq Bill Passed: The Triple Talaq Bill which was pending for 19 months, passed three times by the Lok Sabha, cleared Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, July 30, when some parties opposed the law such as AIADMK, Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) and K Chandrashekar Rao's Telangana Rashtra Samithi abstained from voting. Their absence from the voting process helped bring down the strength of 240-member upper house Parliament and the majority mark. PM Narendra Modi and many other politicians tweeted after the bill was passed.
