With Ramzan at the doorsteps, one thing that every Muslim household stocks up on is dates or khajur. Prophet Muhammad SAW (PBUH), recommended eating dates during Ramzan: “Break your fast by eating dates as it is purifying.” Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to break his fast with either a few fresh or dried dates or a sip of water. The advice given by the Prophet is backed by scientific evidence as dates help restore low blood sugar for those who have been fasting all day. One of the most common reasons for headaches or dizziness during Ramadan is low blood sugar, which is why eating dates is very beneficial at the start of Iftar.
