Kansas, April 29: Just two days after getting his wife's insurance settlement, a man who killed her purchased a life-size sex doll for $2,000 (Rs 1,66,805) in Kansas, United States. According to reports, in 2019, Colby Trickle called  911 after his wife, Kristen Trickle, then 26 years old, had allegedly shot herself in their residence at Hays. An officer from the Hays Police Department arrived at the site shortly after. Sergeant Brandon Hauptman, however, thought that Trickle had something to do with the death after speaking with him.

Meanwhile, coroner Lyle Noordhoek pronounced Kristen's death to be a suicide three days after she passed away. Though Trickle, who was serving in the Army Reserve, was allowed to leave while the detectives continued to pursue the case. US: Man Kills Wife, Mother-in-Law, Five Children Before Killing Himself in Utah's Enoch City.

Years later, a report revealed that Trickle profited from two life insurance policies for his wife, for a combined $120,000. The cops said that within two days of getting the insurance money, he had spent close to $2,000 on a life-size sex doll. Detective Joshua "JB" Burkholder told CBS News that acquiring this kind of doll so soon after his wife passed away was troubling because there is a grieving process that everyone, I believe, should go through when a loved one passes away.

The idea that he would spend Kristen's life insurance money for a sex doll absolutely horrified me. It seemed as though he had used her money to purchase a substitute for her, Kristen Trickle's aunt, Delynn Rice, remarked after learning about the doll. In addition, Trickle used up all $120,000 of the insurance funds in around eight months, according to Assistant Ellis County Attorney Aaron Cunnigham. In addition to purchasing the life-size sex doll, the accused also paid off debt, bought computer games, and purchased musical instruments with the intention of becoming a performer. US: Man Accused of Killing His Five-Year-Old Daughter Told Friend 'He Hated Her to His Core' as She Reminded Him of His Ex-Wife in New Hampshire.

In July 2021, about 21 months following Kristen Trickle's passing, Trickle faced charges of first-degree murder and obstructing law enforcement. Prosecutors disclosed to the jury during his September 2023 trial that he had bought a sex doll. A jury convicted Trickle guilty of murder in November 2023, more than four years after Kristen Trickle passed away. He was given a life sentence without the chance of parole for fifty years.
