Bandel (WB), Apr 19 (PTI) A group of miscreants barged into BJP Lok Sabha candidate Locket Chatterjee's rented accommodation and vandalised it Friday in Hooghly district, a police officer said.

The incident happened at Green Park area here when Chatterjee, who is contesting from Hooghly parliamentary seat, was taking rest there after campaigning in Chinsurah, the officer said.

Chatterjee alleged that 10 to 15 people barged into the house, damaged furniture, computer, smashed a television set and a mirror.

All of them rushed out of the house after that, she alleged.

The police team arrived at the spot on being informed, a BJP leader said.

While the saffron party accused that the Trinamool Congress was behind the incident, the TMC denied the charge.

"It is a result of an internal feud of the BJP," Trinamool Congress MLA Asit Mazumdar claimed.

BJP's Convenor of Hooghly constituency, Ajay Dubey, lodged complaints with the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer's office and also with the Chinsurah police station.

"We have started an investigation into the matter," the Commissioner of Chandernagore Police Commissionerate, Akhilesh Chaturvedi, said.
