Kolkata, Jan 11 (PTI) A fire broke out in a shanty in Kailkhali area of North 24 Parganas district on Friday night, police said.

Around five fire tenders have reached the spot to douse the blaze in which an elderly person is feared dead, they said.

"There are reports that a 70-year-old man has died in the fire. We are awaiting confirmation," said a police official of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate.
