New Delhi, Mar 28 (PTI) More than 140 underprivileged school students in Delhi are currently participating in a five-day basketball training programme, which will conclude on Friday.
The camp has been organized by 'ASSIST' in collaboration with Crossover Basketball and Scholars Academy. In keeping with the overall theme on gender equity, more than 70 per cent of registered participants are girls.
Spearheaded by Kartikeya Goel, a class 11 student at Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj and a junior national level basketball player, ASSIST took the initiative to collaborate with Crossover Basketball and Scholars Academy to bring their 'Hoops Creating Hope' programme to Delhi.
In this endeavour, ASSIST is supported by 25 student volunteers from various schools across Delhi/ NCR.
The five-day long programme will see about 140-plus children from Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust and Teach for India Classrooms undergo training under the guidance of Alana Beard.
Around 25 coaches from across India have also volunteered to attend a 'Coaches Clinic', with the promise to then provide international level coaching through a lens of social impact within their own communities. PTI KHS
