India News | Himachal Pradesh: CM Condoles Demise of Lance Naik Praveen Sharma

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 11 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday expressed his deep condolences on the demise of state resident Lance Naik Praveen Sharma in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sharma, a native of Sirmaur, laid down his life in the line of duty during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Saturday. He was posted at 1Para Special Force, a statement said.

CM Sukhu expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and said that in this hour of grief, the state government stands with the martyr's family and assured all possible help.

Later taking to X, Sukhu said, "The news of the martyrdom of Praveen Sharma, the brave son of Palu village, Rajgarh district, Sirmaur, while fighting terrorists in Anantnag is extremely heartbreaking. I pray to God to give place to the holy soul of Praveen Sharma ji in his feet and provide patience and strength to his family members in this hour of immense grief. This nation will always salute the immortal martyrdom of Praveen Sharma ji in the service of the country. Humble tribute."

Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri and Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan also expressed their deep condolences to the martyr's family and prayed to God to give strength to the bereaved family.

Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta said that the martyr's body will reach Chandigarh on Monday. The administration has arranged for an ambulance to bring the body from Chandigarh.

Khimta said that appropriate guidelines have also been issued to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rajgarh in this regard. The martyr's last rites will be performed with military honours in his native village, Habban of Rajgarh, in Sirmaur district on Monday. (ANI)
