Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 8 (ANI): Two persons were injured when a fire broke out in a chawl in Mumbai's Kherwadi Bandra East area due to gas leakage, an official said on Friday.

According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the incident occurred at 5 pm in Gandhi Nagar in the Kherwadi area of the suburb and the fire was doused with the help of five fire engines.

Two injured persons, identified as Dhanraj (53) and Govinda (29) have been sent to Kasturba Hospital for treatment.

"Fire started in chawl due to gas leakage. Two persons were injured and have been sent to a Kasturba Hospital for treatment," an official said.

Earlier today a massive fire broke out at a slum in Kurla East of Mumbai's Qureshi Nagar. However, no casualties or injuries were reported. (ANI)
