India News | National Red Run 2023: Goa Unites to Spread Awareness on Prevention of AIDS, Foster Inclusivity

Bambolim (Goa) [India], October 8 (ANI): With an aim to spreading awareness about the prevention of the spread of HIV/AIDS, and fostering inclusiveness toward those infected with AIDS, a National Red Run 2023 was organized in Bambolim on Sunday, drawing a large crowd.

The event was organized by the National AIDS Control Organization, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, in collaboration with the Goa State AIDS Control Society.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated the event.

CM Pramod Sawant said, "It is very difficult to work in any HIV/AIDS-tackling organization. I know this because I too have NGOs working in this field. People humiliate it, they don't come forward and isolate this work. Red Ribbon Club is a great initiative which is established across India."

CM Sawant appreciated the people working on the ground and members of the Red Ribbon Club working to reduce the number of AIDS patients.

The National Red Run 2023 event saw the participants competing in three categories, 10 km and 2 km with enthusiasm and vigour.

Hekali Zhimomi, IAS Additional Secretary and Director General Director, National AIDS Control Organisation Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India flagged off the event at the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) Ground Bambolim.

Nidhi Kesarwani, IAS, Director National AIDS Control Organisation Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, Dr Geeta Kakodkar, Director, Health Services, and Dr Gokuldas Sawant, Project Director, Goa State AIDS Control Society were also present.

Approximately 157 participants from different States and Union Territories and Goans participated in large numbers. (ANI)
