Kolkata, Jun 6 (PTI) One more person died of Mucormycosis or black fungus in West Bengal on Sunday taking the death count to 7, a health department official said.
There was one more fatality among suspected cases pushing the death toll in such cases to 15, he said.
Two persons, both from the city, tested positive for the infection taking the total number of confirmed cases to 32, he added.
On Sunday, there were six suspected cases of Mucormycosis reported in the state raising the total number of such patients to 84, he added.
Black fungus or Mucormycosis is caused by a group of moulds known as mucormycetes present naturally in the environment. It spreads through the nose and affects other parts of the body such as the eyes.
