New Delhi, Dec 20 (PTI) The Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will enter the national capital via the Badarpur border on December 24 morning, the party's Delhi unit president Anil Chaudhary said Tuesday.
He said more than 25,000 people have signed up for the Delhi leg of the foot march.
"Not just workers and party members, there are several people who will join the yatra for a day or two to show their support for this initiative. The manual registration process was on till December 18 and we received an overwhelming response from the public," Chaudhary said at a press conference here.
The online registration process will continue until December 23 and a link will be shared by the party for the same, he said.
"Those planning to join the yatra need to click on the link that we share, fill up the form and submit it. Scrutiny of forms usually takes an hour or so and accordingly, an e-pass will be issued," the Delhi Congress chief said.
He further said that the Delhi Congress held multiple meetings regarding the yatra and that the party is aiming to circulate information about the event at block level.
"We held multiple meetings regarding this yatra and our aim is to reach out to people at every block. We will use social media platforms, posters and hoardings to circulate the message," he said.
People who wish to participate can also give a missed call on 9625777907 issued by the Congress party and as soon as someone dials the number, a link will be provided to them via which they can fill the form for the yatra and get an e-pass issued for themselves.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Ajay Maken said the Bharat Jodo Yatra will enter Delhi on its 108th day.
Maken said that the yatra will enter through Badarpur border, then proceed to Ashram, Nizamuddin, India Gate, ITO, Daryaganj and Red Fort.
"On December 24, the yatra will arrive at Badarpur metro station at 6 am and thereafter, we will move to Ashram. It will further move towards Red Fort from where everyone will proceed towards Rajghat, Veerbhumi and Shantivan," he said.
The yatra, which was launched on September 7 in Kanyakumari, has traversed Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It completed 100 days on December 16.
The yatra will enter Delhi on December 24, and after a break of about eight days, move on to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and finally, Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leaders said.
