Jabalpur, Jul 11 (PTI) A 55-year-old professor of a government college was found dead with injuries at her home in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur city on Friday, police said.

Pragya Agrawal, a professor at the Government Home Science College, was found in a pool of blood at her residence in the Amber Vihar locality under the Garha police station area, an official said.

The body was found by a domestic help who arrived at the house around 10 am and alerted neighbours, additional superintendent of police Suryakant Sharma told reporters.

He said Agrawal was unmarried and lived alone.

The woman's right wrist had been slit, and there was also a small cut on her neck, the official said, adding that the police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.

He said forensic evidence had been collected from the scene, and acquaintances of the deceased were being questioned.

City Superintendent of Police (Garha) Ashish Jain said while the preliminary findings suggest suicide, the exact cause of death will be ascertained once the autopsy report arrives.
