Bhiwani (Har), Dec 18 (PTI) The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) slammed the central and the state government's farmer-related policies and alleged that they "ruined" peasants.

Addressing the party's 'Jan Adhikar Yatra' in Tosham here, Leader of the Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala accused the BJP of betraying the farmers after having promised them 50 per cent profit over and above the cost of production.

"Being a government of the rich and for the rich, it does not notice the crisis in the agrarian sector.

"Even as the farmers keep committing suicides for getting mired in the debt trap, the BJP has steadfastly refused to come to the aid of the farmers," Chautala alleged.

He said the INLD has committed itself to waiving the farm loan, if voted to power.

The INLD had started the 'Jan Adhikar Yatra' on December 1 from Kurukshetra on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal and other issues.
