Juvenile on Bail in Rape Case Held for Attacking Minor Girl
A youth, recently released on bail in a gang rape case, was detained on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting an 11-year-old girl in suburban Ghatkopar, police said.
Mumbai, Aug 14 (PTI) A youth, recently released on bail in a gang rape case, was detained on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting an 11-year-old girl in suburban Ghatkopar, police said.
According to police, the minor girl went missing from her residence in Kurla in the morning, following which her family members lodged a complaint with Vinoba Bhave Nagar police station.
An official said crime branch officials also started investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, the officials of Unit-7 of crime branch received information that a minor girl has been found inside a temporary shade on the Lal Bahadur Shastri Road, he said.
After establishing her identity, police detained the juvenile for allegedly kidnapping the victim, he added.
The accused is a habitual offender who was lodged in a correctional home in connection with the gang rape case dated January this year, he said without elaborating.
The juvenile was released on bail around one-and-a- half month ago, the official said.
