Loan Waiver in MP: Chouhan Criticises Cut-off Date
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Thursday that the newly-elected Congress regime has cheated farmers by offering a flawed loan waiver scheme.
Bhopal, Dec 20 (PTI) Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Thursday that the newly-elected Congress regime has cheated farmers by offering a flawed loan waiver scheme.
"By setting cut-off date of March 31, 2018 for getting benefit of the scheme, the Congress has done gross injustice to farmers," he tweeted.
"The Congress should keep off from such cheating as they should very well know that I am not asleep but awake. I am keeping a hawk's eye on them," the tweet read.
Hours after being sworn-in as MP chief minister Monday, Chouhan's successor Kamal Nath announced a loan waiver for farmers, as promised by the Congress during the elections.
Loans of upto Rs 2 lakh as of March 31, 2018, taken from nationalised and cooperative banks, will be waived under the scheme.
