Patnaik Felicitates Six Hockey Players from Odisha

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday felicitated six hockey players from Odisha, who won laurels at the recently-concluded Asian Games, 2018 in Jakarta.

Bhubaneswar, Sep 10 (PTI) Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday felicitated six hockey players from Odisha, who won laurels at the recently-concluded Asian Games, 2018 in Jakarta.

Patnaik gave away prize money of Rs 1 crore each to four members of the women's hockey team, which won silver medal, and Rs 50 lakh each to two members of the men's hockey team that won broze medal in the tournament.

The four girls, who were given prize amount of Rs 1 crore each are Sunita Lakra, Namita Topoo, Lilima Minz and Deep Grace Ekka, while the two members of the men's team, who got Rs 50 lakh each were Birendra Lakra and Amit Rohidas.

The CM also felicitated Sunita Lakra and Amit Rohidas with Rs 2 lakh each. The two had bagged Biju Patnaik Sports Awards for 2017.

He announced Rs 7.5 lakh cash prize for two more athletes - Jauna Murmu and Purnima Hembram, who had participated in the Asian Games.
