Agra, Sep 25 (PTI) A statue of RSS icon Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya was unveiled Tuesday at the Paliwal park campus of the Dr BR Ambedkar University here by UP Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The two leaders said Upadhyaya's philosophy was still relevant and there is need to "work collectively to translate his dreams into reality".

A new building of the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute of Rural Development was also formally inaugurated.

Several BJP leaders including state president Mahendra Nath Pandey, MPs and MLAs were present at the function.

Elaborate security arrangements were made and the busy MG Road was closed for traffic movement. A group of NSUI volunteers tried to protest with black flags but were soon whisked away by the police, officials said.
