Woman Injured as Six Shanties Collapse in East Delhi
A 33-year-old woman was injured as six shanties collapsed in east Delhi's Kalyanpuri area on Thursday, police said.
New Delhi, Jul 18 (PTI) A 33-year-old woman was injured as six shanties collapsed in east Delhi's Kalyanpuri area on Thursday, police said.
According to the fire department, they received information at 3.56 pm, following which teams were rushed to the spot for the rescue operation.
It is suspected that the shanties were weakened due to heavy rains during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, officials said.
It was found that total six shanties collapsed one after another and the woman sustained minor injuries in the incident, a senior police officer said.
The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was treated and later discharged, he added. PTI NIT

Traffic hit in Pul Prahlad Pur due to waterlogging
New Delhi, Jul 18 (PTI) Traffic was diverted from Pul Prahlad Pur underpass and Chawla Stand Firni Road due to waterlogging on Thursday morning, police said.
Traffic was affected at Pul Prahlad Pur underpass, following which cars were diverted to other roads, they said.
Water was pumped out of the underpass in three hours. A crane removed deserted vehicles from the road and traffic started normally, police said.
Information regarding water logging and cave-in of roads was received at around 7 am in Najafgarh area, they said.
One car and one truck were struck on the opposite carriageways at Chhawla Stand.
During the period, five DTC and cluster buses broke down at Najafgarh Firni Road, police said.
Traffic was diverted to prevent further congestion. The two caved-in roads have been repaired while the third is being repaired and traffic was normalised at around 12 noon, they added. PTI NIT

Two nabbed for snatching mobile phones
New Delhi, Jul 18 (PTI) Two men, including a call centre employee, were arrested for allegedly snatching mobile phones in the national capital, police said Thursday.
Rajan (20) and Golu (23), the accused persons, are residents of Mangolpuri area, they said.
Rajan was previously involved in two cases, while Bholu was in five criminal cases, police said.
"The accused were arrested on Wednesday in Punjabi Bagh area," said Monika Bharadwaj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).
One country-made pistol, one live cartridge, one bike and two mobile phones, which they had snatched just 40-45 minutes ago from the areas of K N Katju Marg and Maurya Enclave were recovered from their possession, the DCP added.
