Mercedes-Benz has discontinued the GLB SUV in India due to poor sales, with reports suggesting that a next-gen GLB variant may be launched soon.
New Delhi,Ā April 21:Ā Mercedes-Benz has discontinued its GLB seven-seater SUV in India. The SUV was launchedĀ in December 2022 and offered variousĀ premium features and specifications for its luxurious price. Being a seven-seater, theĀ Mercedes-Benz GLB was ideal for a familyĀ or business trip.Ā The car was available to buy in India at INR 68.3 lakh to INR 69.80 lakh (ex-showroom), making it an affordable choice among other models.Ā
The luxury SUV was launched in India via the CBU routeĀ in threeĀ trims:Ā Mercedes-Benz GLB Progressive,Ā Mercedes-Benz GLB 220d 4MATIC, andĀ Mercedes-Benz GLB 220d AMG Line 4MATIC.Ā The modelĀ did not meet the expected salesĀ during its two years of launch. Mercedes-Benz GLB was discontinued in India likely due to failing sales. However,Ā the company will continue to offer the fully-electric EQB model in India. The Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ is priced between INR 72.20 lakh and the 350 variant at INR 78.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mercedes-Benz GLB Specifications and Features
The Mercedes-Benz GLBĀ 200 Progressive had a 1.3-litre turbo-petrolĀ variantĀ with 163 hp power and 250 Nm of torque, along with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. TheĀ Mercedes-Benz GLBĀ 200dĀ variants were launched with a 2.0-litre diesel engine capable of generating 190 hp power and 400 Nm torque. This unit was mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.Ā
It is rumoured that the GermanĀ automobile company may launch next-gen GLB variants inĀ India soon. These would be built on the same MMA platform as featured in the CLA 3rd gen in March. Reports said thatĀ more improvements could be expected in terms of exterior design, structure, andĀ interiors.
