Khan has decided to part ways with the biopic based on the life of controversial entrepreneur Ashneer Grover, co-founder of BharatPe. Sources close to the production indicate that the exit is due to creative differences with the film's debutant director, Rahul Mody. Aamir Khan Exits Ashneer Grover Biopic?
Reports confirm that Aamir Khan, who was initially slated to star in the Ashneer Grover biopic, has indeed backed out of the project. A source informed Bollywood Hungama that Khan was deeply engrossed in the world of startups and had actively contributed to the script's development. However, as the creative process unfolded, irreconcilable differences emerged between Aamir Khan and director Rahul Mody.
"Aamir is fascinated by the world of start-ups, and was keen to get into the zone with the Ashneer Grover biopic. He sat on the script and developed it to the best of his sensibilities. But eventually, he ended up having creative differences with Rahul Mody, leading to the duo parting ways," a source told Bollywood Hungama.
The film now faces a recasting challenge following Khan's departure. Despite Aamir Khan's exit, Shraddha Kapoor remains committed to the project. She is not only slated to play the pivotal role of Ashneer Grover's wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, but will also produce the film in collaboration with a leading studio. The makers are reportedly on the lookout for a “relatively younger name” to essay the role of Ashneer Grover.
Is Imran Khan Part of Ashneer Grover Biopic?
Amidst the early buzz surrounding the Ashneer Grover biopic, rumours had also linked actor Imran Khan to a potential role in the film. However, Imran Khan swiftly put these rumours to rest. In an interaction with HT City, Khan explicitly denied any involvement, stating, "I have not even heard of this project. This is not true."
Aamir Khan's Upcoming Projects
While the Ashneer Grover biopic is no longer on his immediate slate as an actor, Aamir Khan remains busy with several other projects, primarily as a producer, and upcoming acting commitments.
As an actor, Khan's last film was RS Prasanna's Sitaare Zameen Par, which was released on June 20, 2025. The film, which completed shooting in December 2024, emerged as a massive hit, grossing an estimated ₹266.49 crore worldwide and ranking as the sixth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025.
As a producer, Aamir Khan Productions is backing Batwara 1947, starring Sunny Deol and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Regarding the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic, which Aamir Khan was slated to star in, and Rajkumar Hirani was set to direct, the project is currently on hold. Reports from early 2026 indicate that the film has been delayed due to script issues, with both Khan and Hirani seeking further revisions.
