CBSE Class 12 Topper Karishma Arora Wants to Become Dancer, Hansika Shukla Aims for IFS; Are Parents Listening?

New Delhi, May 3: The CBSE class 12th results were out on Thursday, with female candidate emerging as the toppers for this year. Among the two toppers - Hansika Shukla and Karishma Arora, who scored 499 out of 500 - are from Humanities and both of them want to pursue a different career other taking a traditional route. But the questions remain - are their parents willing to listen to their aspirations?
According to a report, published in DailyO, Karishma wants to become a dancer, Hansika wants to join the Indian Foreign Service (IFS). It is to be known that Karishma is a trained Kathak dancer, has recently won a scholarship from the ministry of culture. The official CBSE website stated that this year, 94,299 scored 90 per cent marks while 83.4 per cent candidates passed the class 12 board exam results 2019. Among the specially challenged category, Lavanya Balakrishnan secured the top positing scoring 489 marks.
With 13 lakh students appeared for the exam, female candidates passing percentage was 88.70 while the male percentage was 79.4. Foreign schools passing percentage was 95.43 per cent and transgender candidates passing percentage was 83.3.
As per to some reports, 25 students in Telangana committed suicide in the last 10 days after the intermediate (Telangana state board) results were announced. In 2018, about 19 students committed suicide in Kota in 2018, while the count was 7 in 2017.
Coming back the question, whether these toppers would be allowed to pursue their career or not is still a mystery. Though the hobbies of these talented students are different, the approach of the parents towards their viewpoint of their children needs change. However, it is also important that parents should not impose their aspiration on these children too.
