Bengaluru LPG Theft: Man Arrested for Stealing 65 Empty Cylinders From Gas Agency

A man has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly stealing 65 empty LPG cylinders from a gas agency, according to a report by The Hindu. The case comes amid heightened scrutiny of LPG cylinder supply and thefts in Karnataka. Police have taken the accused into custody in connection with the theft and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the removal of the cylinders from the gas agency.

The incident is significant because LPG cylinder thefts have been reported in Bengaluru in recent months amid concerns over cooking-gas availability. In one March 2026 case, two men were caught on CCTV allegedly stealing two cylinders from a house in Bengaluru. Reports of cylinder thefts also prompted police officials in Bengaluru to advise consumers to note the unique serial number and safety expiry code marked on their domestic LPG cylinders, which can help investigators trace cylinders in theft or accident cases.
