Chhattisgarh Woman Types Boyfriend’s Name on Phone After Stabbing, Accused Arrested Within Hours

A 19-year-old woman in Chhattisgarh allegedly identified her attacker by typing his name on a mobile phone after she was repeatedly stabbed in the neck, helping police arrest the accused within hours. The victim, Radhika Rajwade, later succumbed to her injuries while being shifted to a higher medical facility, police said.

The incident took place around 8 pm on Sunday, July 26, at Nehru Park under the Surajpur police station limits. Woman Allegedly Identified Accused Before Dying

According to police, the accused allegedly stabbed Radhika multiple times in the neck before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. Bystanders rushed the critically injured woman to the district hospital, from where she was referred to Ambikapur Medical College Hospital. However, she died on the way due to the severity of her injuries.

According to The Times of India, despite sustaining a deep neck wound, Radhika managed to stagger out of the park in an attempt to seek help before collapsing. Victim Typed Alleged Attacker's Name

Quoting Surajpur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Patel, The Times of India reported that when officers attempted to question Radhika, she repeatedly gestured for a mobile phone.

Realising she wanted to communicate, police handed her a phone, on which she allegedly typed the identity of her attacker before being referred to the higher medical centre. Investigators later relied on that information as part of the probe.

CCTV, Phone Records Helped Police Investigation

Police examined the crime scene and reviewed CCTV footage from Nehru Park and nearby areas. According to investigators, the footage showed the couple spending nearly an hour inside the park before an argument allegedly broke out.

Police also found that after the alleged attack, the accused believed the victim had died, removed the knife from her neck and fled the scene on his motorcycle. The report added that the victim's phone records and chat history corroborated the lead obtained through her final communication.

Accused Arrested Within Hours

Police formed multiple teams to trace the suspect using CCTV footage, technical evidence and surveillance. According to officials, Ritesh Rajwade was located in a forest in the Pidha area, where police laid a cordon and arrested him within hours of the incident.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime, claiming he suspected the victim of being involved with another man.

Police said the accused also told investigators that he and Radhika had been in a relationship for nearly six years and that he had become upset after she allegedly grew distant.

Police said the investigation is continuing to establish the exact sequence of events and circumstances that led to the fatal stabbing. Authorities have not announced further details regarding the charges filed, and the allegations against the accused will be examined through the judicial process.
