Mumbai, March 13: A 24-year-old Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) student in Mumbai allegedly died by suicide after months of emotional distress, leaving behind a six-page note accusing her boyfriend of harassment and humiliation. The student, identified as Stuti Sonawane, was found hanging in her room at her home in the Antop Hill area on Monday morning.

According to police, Sonawane’s suicide note details the mental trauma she allegedly suffered during her relationship with her boyfriend, Fazal Mohammad Khan, a 31-year-old insurance agent. The note reportedly describes repeated insults and humiliation that deeply affected her mental health. Bengaluru Techie Dies by Suicide After Cooking Dispute With Mother-in-Law, Husband Arrested.

Investigators said the two met on a dating app and were in a relationship for about one and a half years before deciding to break up and remain friends. However, tensions reportedly escalated after another man entered Sonawane’s life, which upset Khan and allegedly led to an argument during which he used derogatory language. Meerut Shocker: Man Dies by Suicide Over Issues With His Wife and In-Laws, Police Investigating Matter.

In the note, Sonawane also mentioned that her friends were aware of her troubled relationship and would often joke, saying, “We don’t want to see you in the fridge,” a reference that has shocked investigators.

The incident came to light when Sonawane did not respond to her parents’ calls until late morning. After breaking open the door, they found her hanging from the ceiling. She was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead by doctors.

Based on a complaint filed by her parents and the contents of the note, Antop Hill police arrested Khan from Lower Parel later that day. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 108 for abetment of suicide. Police said further investigation into the case is ongoing.
