According to preliminary police investigations, the victim was attacked on the head with a sharp weapon. To destroy evidence in a calculated Drishyam-style cover-up, the suspect executed a planned method: placing the body under a running tap so that the continuous water flow would wash away biological evidence and speed up body decay before anyone noticed. The case took a crucial turn when the fleeing suspect sent a voice message to the flat’s landlord while en route to Kolkata. In the voicemail, she reportedly confessed, "The bathroom tap in the flat has been left running, and a dead body is kept there." Upon receiving the message, the landlord immediately alerted the authorities, enabling police to confirm the crime scene swiftly. Forensic teams have surveyed the flat to collect physical evidence and biological samples. Manpada Police have registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Multiple police teams have been dispatched to Kolkata to track down and arrest the absconding suspect. Further investigation into the motive behind the murder is currently underway.
