Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya has directed that all pet owners must register their dogs with immediate effect. Keeping an unregistered pet dog will now be treated as a violation of municipal rules and may attract action from the civic body.
How to Register Your Pet Dog in Gurugram
Pet owners can complete the registration process either through the MCG online portal or by visiting designated Citizen Facilitation Centres (CFCs).
Applicants must submit:
- Valid identity proof
- A recent photograph of the pet dog
- A valid rabies vaccination certificate

New Rules for Taking Dogs to Public Places
Under the revised guidelines, pet owners must follow strict rules while taking dogs outside their homes.
The MCG has made it mandatory that:
- Dogs must always be kept on a leash in public places.
- Pets cannot be left unattended on roads, parks, green belts or market areas.
- Owners must clean up pet waste in public spaces.
- Dogs must receive timely vaccinations, including rabies vaccination.

Special Restrictions for Aggressive Dog Breeds
The MCG has introduced stricter safety measures for breeds considered aggressive or potentially dangerous.

- Rottweiler
- Dogo Argentino
- Cane Corso
- Akita
- Mastiff breeds
Owners of these breeds must ensure their dogs wear both a leash and a muzzle whenever they are taken to public places.
