New Delhi, August 17: Journalist Poonam Joshi, who was covering the anti-India protests organised by Pakistanis in London for news agency ANI, drew praise on Twitter after a clip on social media showed her snatching a torn tricolour from two Khalistani demonstrators. The incident was reported on Thursday, when the Pakistani diaspora in UK gathered outside the Indian embassy to lodge their protest against the recent measures taken by New Delhi in Jammu & Kashmir.

Joshi later took to Twitter to slam the Khalistani agitators who disrespected the Indian national flag. The scribe said that it was her duty being an Indian to bring back the torn pieces of tricolour. Abrogation of Article 370: Pakistan PM Imran Khan Welcomes UNSC Meeting on Jammu and Kashmir

Social media users were quick to appreciate her bravery, and also condemned members of the Pakistani diaspora for organising an "uncivil" and "violent" demonstration.

Notably, a clash had also broke out between Pakistani demonstrators and Indian counter-protesters in London on August 15. The two sides were raising slogans against each other on the issue of Kashmir. The demonstrations were encouraged by the government in Islamabad, which has called upon members of their diaspora to contribute in "internationalising" the J&K dispute.
