Police have registered a case against six men, including two railway police officers, for the repeated s*xual assault, intimidation, and unlawful confinement of a 22-year-old woman across several locations in Karnataka, authorities confirmed on Thursday. The victim was rescued after a co-passenger on a bus noticed her crying and alerted the 112 emergency helpline. Emergency response personnel intercepted the vehicle and brought her to 'Shakti Sadan,' a state-run women's shelter in Yadgir, where she received counselling before filing a formal police complaint.
According to the complaint filed at the Yadgir Women Police Station, the victim's ordeal began at the Yadgir railway station, where she had traveled from Bengaluru following a domestic dispute. A man identified as Mallappa approached her under the pretext of offering help and promising marriage, before taking her to a nearby house and s*xually assaulting her. Shortly after, two railway police personnel—identified as Sharanappa and an unnamed officer—arrived at the location and allegedly assaulted her as well.
