Close Tussle and Counting Dynamics

The presidential contest remained neck-and-neck through multiple rounds of counting, with Dabas and Meena frequently exchanging leads before the ABVP candidate pulled ahead in the decisive final rounds.

In contrast, Deepanshu Shokeen maintained a continuous, decisive lead throughout the counting process to keep the Vice President post out of ABVP's sweep.

Priorities of the Newly Elected Panel

Speaking to CNN News18 after their victory in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, ABVP’s Yash Dabas, Riya Chhawdi and Lakshya Raj Singh said their immediate focus would be on student concerns, campus issues and accommodation. The three winners said their priorities would include “protecting democratic spaces on campus" and addressing issues faced by the student community.

Following the Satya Niketan incident, the candidates said accommodation for Delhi University students would be among their key concerns. They said they wanted to ensure students had access to safe and proper housing facilities.

Dismissing rigging allegations raised by NSUI, the ABVP winners labelled them unfounded and stated that NSUI had made similar claims in past elections. The candidates further alleged that individuals carrying fake identity cards were caught on campus during the election process.

Highlighting the Gen Z factor in this year’s elections, the winning candidates said the outcome demonstrated strong support for ABVP among young voters, asserting that nationalist politics continues to resonate with younger demographics while promising that addressing the “concerns and aspirations of Gen Z students" will remain a central priority.
