Smriti Irani Sets Up Mobile Theatre in Rahul Gandhi's Amethi For People to Watch 'Uri - The Surgical Strike' Movie

Smriti Irani makes arrangement for Uri’s free screening in Rahul Gandhi’s theatre-less Amethi; cities move will instil nationalism among people

Amethi, January 29: Union Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani on Tuesday arranged for a ‘mobile digital theatre’ to screen the movie ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ for the public free of cost in Amethi from January 26. The movie is being screened at a spice factory in Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s constituency, where there is not an absence of movie theatre. The movie will be screened four times a day.

According to the information, the movie was the first screen at the spice factory took place on Republic Day, with a video conference with the minister. Also, the official poster pasted outside the makeshift theatre in Amethi carries Irani’s photograph. Briefing the details, general secretary of the BJP’s youth wing Vishuv Mishra – given the in-charge for coordinating the screening, said, as reported by Indian Express, “There is no working movie theatre in Amethi, and there was a demand from the public to view this movie. So Smriti Irani arranged for the screenings and personally addressed the audience through video-conferencing on Republic Day.”

The movie has been screened at the makeshift theatre four times a day — 9.20 am, 1.30 pm, 5 pm and 8 pm. Reports say that the theatre can accommodate 150 people at a time and so far around 2,000 people — with an average of around 600 a day — have attended the screenings.

Earlier on Republic Day, Irani in her address her message aired to the public before the first screening on Republic Day, said, “Didi (referring to herself) ka to kaam hai sewa karna…Naujawan prerit hon bhartiya sena ke shaurya ko dekh kar, yogdan ko dekh kar, maa bharti ke sapoot kaise ghar baar tyaag kar, apne praano ki aahuti dete hain, yeh is film mein dikhaaya jata hai (It is didi’s job to do service…The youth are encouraged to see the courage and contribution of the Army as the movie shows how sons of the soil sacrifice everything)…”

It is also to be known that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday has announced that the state cabinet has decided to exempt the movie from state GST. Announcing the decision of the state cabinet in Prayagraj, he said, “There is a movie on the surgical strikes 'Uri', the cabinet has decided to exempt it from state GST. This film will instil a feeling of nationalism in the youth and the citizens of the country.”
