Coffee has so many brews the world over, from lattes, cappuccino or chocolate variations, there is so much variety. A true coffee lover does not usually like a slight change in their coffee. And among the many studies about caffeine being good or bad for health, depending on the intake, a new healthy trend has entered the coffee cup. Are you ready for broccoli lattes? The green veggie is dried, ground to fine powder, and stirred into your coffee. The trend has been started by not hipsters but Australian scientists.

Broccoli is an extremely healthy vegetable as it has vitamins C, K, A and B6, as well as folate, magnesium and potassium, among other nutrients. The broccoli powder uses the whole broccoli - florets and stems unlike the vegetable which dumps the chunks in the dustbin. "It's a great way to consume vegetables when it really doesn't' seem like you're consuming vegetables. Broccoli is so high-protein with fibre and general health-promoting ingredients but it tends to be underrated," says David Moore of Hort's research. Have You Tried the Blue Tea? How is Broccoli Coffee made?

To make broccoli coffee, the powder is added to the cup after the espresso shot. Steamed milk is added, and more broccoli powder is sprinkled on top to give the final touch.

Now the next step is to investigate developing the broccoli powder for the consumer market so that the trend which is currently in the cafes, can soon enter households. Are you willing to try this healthy coffee?
