This Day in History: Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, Adopted by Shivaji Maharaj’s Wife at the Age of 10 Went On To Become the ‘Pillar of Social Democracy’

On this day (March 17) in 1884, after the death of Shivaji Maharaj, the 4th king of Kolhapur, his wife Anandibai adopted "Yashwant". She named him "Shahu". This Shahu later became Rajarshi Chhtrapati Shahu Maharaj, the "Pillar of Social Democracy.
