The journey of the Indian football team finally ends in the Asian Games 2023 as they succumb defeat to Saudi Arabia in the Round of 16 clash following a 2-0 defeat. Saudi Arabia was the superior opposition throughout putting India under pressure since the kick-off. Indian defence led by Sandesh Jhingan fought valiantly in the first half entering the break at stalemate. Saudi Arabia scored in the 2nd half early taking the lead and doubled it up immediately after. India never looked like being able to score in the game and the game was decided with those two goals.
