India's first Test assignment after the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 will be a two-match home series against West Indies starting October 2, with Shubman Gill lead Men in Blue and Roston Chase captaining the Men in Maroon. Fans can check out all the live score updates and action from IND vs WI 1st Test 2025 below.
Stumps! Day 1 of the India vs West Indies first Test comes to an end and India are expectedly on the driver's seat. They have wrapped up the West Indies innings for just 162 runs and have scored 121 already after losing only two wickets. KL Rahul has batted well once again, scoring a half-century and he has received good support from Shubman Gill. India will look to not bat twice in this Test.Â
After Sai Sudharsan's dismissal, the Indian batters have aimed to consolidate the innings and take steps rather than trying to blow the opposition away. Both Shubman Gill and KL Rahul are taking their time on the crease and moving the scoreboard gradually. West Indies will want another wicket here.Â
Out! Roston Chase finds the leg of Sai Sudharsan infront of the wicket. Quick wickets for West Indies here. It was a quicker and skids on to middle, Sai Sudharsan misjudged the length, went to the back-foot and missed the shot, got trapped LBW. Sai Sudharsan registers a failure in the first innings of his home Test debut.  Sai Sudharsan lbw b Roston Chase 7(19).
Out! Yashasvi Jaiswal has to depart. It is Jayden Seales who provides the breakthrough. Short of length on the off, too close to the body. Jaiswal cuts and edges it behind while Shai Hope takes a routine catch. Some relief for West Indies. They will now have to continue to take wickets. Jaiswal c Shai Hope b Jayden Seales 36(54).
After the restart, India have found momentum in the innings. First 12 overs of their innings was rather a slow start with the scoreboard not moving much. But both batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul has been scoring freely in the last four overs. India are racing to take the lead and West Indies have a big task infront.Â
The play has resumed after a short break caused by rainfall. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul are out on the pitch and Jaiswal has struck a boundary off Justin Greaves to get some rhythm back.Â
It seems like the rain has eased and the covers are coming off one by one. Good news for the fans but they have to wait a little longer as the super soppers are in work to dry the outfield and Umpires will have to consider the lights as well.Â
Oh the rain has become heavier now. The Umpires have directed the players to go off the ground. The light was getting lesser as the clouds come on and now it has started raining. Fans will hope it is a short delay and the Day can see more matches.Â
So far, the final session on Day 1 of the IND Vs WI 1st Test 2025 has gone West Indies, with their pacers not letting the Indian batters move an inch. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is known for his aggressive batting, has been kept under control, with the opener contributing just 2 off deliveries, with most of the runs coming off KL Rahul's bat. Roston Chase has made the first change, replacing Jayden Seales with Justin Greaves.Â
This has been a brilliant spell of bowling by Johann Layne and Jayden Seales, who have hardly given an inch to either of the Indian openers. KL Rahul has been the only scorer member of the opening pair, with Yashasvi Jaiswal still stuck on zero off 11 balls.Â
This is a cautious start by Indian openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who have looked to play out a probing spell by West Indies bowlers. Both Jayden Seales and Johann Layne have maintained their line and lenght, and bowled to their fields.Â
India's opening pair in this Test are Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. Both players have been in form, particularly Rahul, who played splendid cricket in England during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. Without Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph, the pressure will be on Jayden Seales and debutant Johann Layne to make early inroads.Â
OUT! Kuldeep Yadav comes into the attack, and does the trick, getting the final West Indies wicket of the innings as the visitors are bundled out for 162. Jomel Warrican lasted just 16 balls before a wild shot resulted in the vice-captain getting out off Kuldeep Yadav, who took his second wicket. Warrican c Dhruv Jurel b Kuldeep Yadav 8(16)Â
Unfortunately, Mohammed Siraj could not complete his five-wicket haul, and ended with four wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah was the second-best picking a well-deserved three-wicket haul.Â
OUT! Another Jasprit Bumrah special, and debutant Johann Layne's time in the middle comes to an end after four balls. Bumrah brings out his unplayable 'Yorker' and beats Layne for pace as the batter sees the ball zip past defence and crash on middle-and off stump.  Johann Layne b Jasprit Bumrah 1(4)
OUT! And the procession begins, and Jasprit Bumrah removes the well-set Justin Greaves. Greaves failed to keep out Bumrah's pinpoint accurate yorker and got beaten for pace, which ended in his off-stump getting uprooted. Greaves played a handy knock that helped West Indies reach 150. Justin Greaves b Bumrah 32(48)
OUT! Washington Sundar does his magic, and debutant Khary Pierre's 34-ball defiance in the middle has to come to an end. The ball drifted back into Pierre, who looked to defend, but saw the bat come a bit late as the ball hit the pad first, much to the batter disppointment.  Khary Pierre lbw b Washington Sundar 11(34)
This has been a terrific stand from Justin Greaves and debutant Khary Pierre for the West Indies. Both players have battled with grit and have not shied away from hitting the big shots, which sees the seventh-wicket stand rise to 40 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar have been made to work hard to earn the wickets.Â
Since the fall of Roston Chase, the flow of runs have been better than any other session of play for the West Indies. Justin Greaves and debutant Khary Pierre have played their shots with intent, and not just blocked everything the bowlers have bowled. Shubman Gill have broughgt back Jasprit Bumrah to knockover the Windies' tail as quicly as possible.Â
OUT! And, West Indies captain Roston Chase too perishes, to the second wicket in as many overs. Mohammed Siraj bowls an unplayable delivery, only to find the ball take an outside edge, as the wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel pouches a simple catch to dismiss Chase for 24 off 43. Roston Chase c Dhruv Jurel b Siraj 24(43)
Welcome back for the second session on Day 1, with West Indies looking to build a solid stand with captain Roston Chase and Justin Greaves in the middle. Chase has played proper cricket and not heeded to any wrong shots, while Greaves is just starting his innings. Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj will want to make inroads, further denting chances of a sub-par total.Â
