Venue and Significance

The Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan, with its storied history, will once again be at the heart of the action. The Salt Lake Stadium recently hosted two high-profile international friendlies involving the Indian men's football team, where they took on five-time world champions Brazil, losing 4-0 on October 3, and two-time world champions Uruguay, losing 6-1 on October 6. These matches showcased the city's fervent passion for the beautiful game, setting the stage perfectly for the arrival of the 'El Clasico' legends. The venue has also hosted Barcelona Legends previously, in September 2018, when they defeated Mohun Bagan veterans 6-0.

Anticipated Stars and Past Encounters

While the official squad lists for both Real Madrid Legends and Barcelona Legends are yet to be confirmed, the prospect of seeing former greats on Indian soil is generating immense buzz. Names like Luís Figo, Iker Casillas, and Carles Puyol have been mooted as potential participants, promising a nostalgic evening for fans who followed their legendary careers.

This will not be the first time these two sets of legends have met in India. On April 6, 2025, Real Madrid Legends secured a 2-0 victory over Barcelona Legends in an exhibition match held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Fernando Morientes and David Barral were among the goal scorers in that encounter. That match reportedly featured stars such as Carles Puyol (for Barcelona), Luís Figo (captain for Real Madrid), Pepe, Michael Owen, Javier Saviola, Xavi, and Rivaldo.
