Even as farmer organisations across India continue to protest on the highways and roads leading to Delhi against the NDA government’s new Farm Laws, various Kisan Unions have called for a Bharat Bandh on December 8. The nation-wide call for a shutdown was given as four rounds of talks with the Union Agricultural Minister Narendra Tomar has yielded no concrete results in terms of either amendment of the law or a complete repeal of it. Various political parties, Congress, K Chandrasekhar Rao’s TRS, Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress and others have voiced their support for the Bharat Bandh.
