Nagpur, Aug 9 (PTI) Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi leader Prakash Ambedkar on Friday slammed the Maharashtra government for `lackadaisical' approach to over two lakh people affected by the floods in western Maharashtra.

He demanded formation apermanent coordination committee to monitor release of water from dams on the Krishna and Panchaganga rivers and the Almatti dam in Karnataka.

Many parts of Kolhapur and Solapur are submerged for the last seven days but the government has not provided any kind of help to them, he alleged at a press conference here.

Ambedkar had contested the Lok Sabha election unsuccessfully from Solapur this time.

"People staying in camps are being provided food by NGOs and workers of political parties. The BJP-led government is not concerned with their plight as it is busy with preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections," he said. PTI
