Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 6 (ANI): A notorious criminal from Bihar was killed in an encounter with police in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, an official said.

As per the Noida Special Task Force, Nilesh Rai the deceased criminal had a bounty of Rs 2.25 lakh on his head declared by authorities in Bihar.

"On June 5, in a joint operation of Uttar Pradesh STF's Noida Unit and Bihar STF, there was an encounter with the criminals in Thana Ratanpuri Muzaffarnagar area, in which Bihar's notorious criminal Nilesh Rai, on whom a reward of Rs 2.25 lakh was declared from Bihar, was seriously injured and was sent to the hospital for treatment where he succumbed due to injuries," Noida STF said.

The criminal Nilesh had 16 cases registered against him under various sections like murder, robbery, dacoity and extortion, Noida STF said.

As per Noida STF, "On February 21, when the police raided in Thana Garhara area Begusarai, Nilesh Rai along with his companions fired indiscriminately at the Bihar Police party and fled, in which one person was shot and seriously injured." (ANI)
