Lucknow, Jun 4 (PTI) Samajwadi Party candidate Afzal Ansari clinched a victory in the Ghazipur Lok Sabha seat, defeating his nearest rival Paras Nath Rai of the BJP by a margin of 1,24,861 votes.
According to the Election Commission data, Ansari got 5,39,912 votes, while Rai polled 4,15,051 votes. BSP's Umesh Kumar Singh bagged 1,64,964 votes.

Ansari is the brother of gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari who died of cardiac arrest in March this year.
