Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 14 (ANI): The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam police recovered and seized a large number of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) in Guwahati.

The STF team also apprehended five persons in connection with this and they were identified as Nizam Al, Hafizur Rahman, Abdul Rajak, Munindra Hazarika and Atikur Rahman.

Partha Sarathi Mahanta, DIG (STF) said "In response to information received concerning the dealing and delivery of counterfeit Indian currency notes (FICN) with a total value of 30 lakh, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam initiated a operation in Guwahati on Friday evening."

"The STF team executed a raid at a rented residence located at H/No. A-1, Dakhingaon, Saukuchi Road in Guwahati under the jurisdiction of Hatigaon police station. As a result, five individuals were apprehended," he said

"During the search operations, 26 counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination (FICN), 6 mobile phones, 6 black-coloured papers of Rs 500 size, which can be converted into Rs 500 FICN when a specific chemical is applied, one bottle containing a liquid chemical used for developing Rs 500 denomination counterfeit notes, one bottle containing a suspected liquid chemical, one bundle of black papers in the size of Rs 500 notes used for counterfeiting, one brown-coloured tape and one white-coloured plastic marketing bag, cash amounting to Rs 7,700, one Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number AS 01AR 1918," Partha Sarathi Mahanta said.

The apprehended individuals and the recovered/seized items were handed over to the local Hatigaon police station for the registration of a case, investigation, and the initiation of necessary legal actions. (ANI)
