Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 20 (ANI): A team of food safety officers conducted raids at various shawarma shops in the Madurai district following the death of a girl allegedly after eating chicken shawarma
Jayarama Pandian, Food Safety Officer, Madurai said, "We inspected 90 shops and confiscated 70 kg of chicken. We have sealed two shops."

Earlier, the minor girl died of suspected food poisoning on Monday, hours after consuming food at a restaurant near Paramathi Velur in Namakkal district. Her body was later sent to Namakkal Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
Following the incident, the sale of shawarma in hotels across Namakkal district has been temporarily banned, health department officials said. (ANI)
