Chandigarh [India], September 12 (ANI): The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Tuesday apprehended a supervisor posted in the Child Development Project Office (CDPO) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 18000 in Bathinda district.
According to an official statement, the accused has been identified as Harmel Kaur and was posted in CDPO, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda district.

“The accused was taken into custody based on a complaint filed by Reshma, a resident of Bhagi Wander village in Tehsil Talwandi Sabo,” an official spokesperson said.
He further said that the complainant had approached the VB and alleged that the Supervisor had demanded Rs 80,000 for the recruitment of her daughter-in-law as an Anganwari worker but the deal was struck at Rs 60,000. The complainant further informed that the Supervisor had already taken Rs 35,000 from the applicant Reshma and demanded the remaining balance of the amount.

The spokesperson said after the preliminary investigation, the VB had laid a trap and the accused Supervisor was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 18,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a bribery case against the accused official has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at VB Police Station, Bathinda range. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he added. (ANI)
