Man Shot Dead in East Delhi
A 21-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by two men following a quarrel after their car brushed past his motorcycle while parking outside a store in east Delhi, police said Monday.
New Delhi, Dec 10 (PTI) A 21-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by two men following a quarrel after their car brushed past his motorcycle while parking outside a store in east Delhi, police said Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Yogesh Singh Dedha, a resident of Chilla Village in east Delhi, the police said.
The incident occurred in Pandav Nagar area on Sunday night when Dedha had gone to buy some snacks at a store along with his two cousins on his motorcycle, a senior police officer said.
According to eyewitnesses, Dedha, along with two others, were standing outside the shop at 11.30 pm when a car stopped just next to them.
When the driver opened the door, it brushed the motorcycle and an argument broke out, Panjak Singh, deputy commissioner of police (east) said. The officer said the car driver went inside the store and returned with some snack.
Dedha again got into an argument with the occupants of the car. He picked up an iron rod from a nearby shop and smashed an window glass, the officer said.
Following this, a scuffle broke out between them and the accused opened fire at him multiple times and fled away from the spot, the DCP said.
The victim sustained two gunshot injuries, one at his right thigh and another at abdomen, he said.
Dedha was rushed to the hospital by his cousin, but he was declared brought dead, he added.
Police said they have scanned the CCTV footage installed outside the store, which has captured the images of accused. They are also scanning other CCTV footage of the area to get details about the registration number of the car.
Dedha was survived by his wife and two-year-old daughter. His wife is four-month pregnant. He helped his father who deals in property business, police said.
The accused have not been arrested yet, police said, adding investigation is underway.
