Processional Idol Slips from Priest's Hands;falls to Ground
The centuries old processional idol carried by a priest at the Lord Venkateswara hill shrine at nearby Tirumala slipped from his hands and fell down,following which special poojas were performed and it was placed in the sanctum sanctorum.
Tirupati, Sep 8 (PTI) The centuries old processional idol carried by a priest at the Lord Venkateswara hill shrine at nearby Tirumala slipped from his hands and fell down,following which special poojas were performed and it was placed in the sanctum sanctorum.
A temple official told PTI that the priest was carrying the deity to the inner sanctum sanctorum from the 'Garuda Alwar Mandapam' after a daily ritual when he skidded and fell to the ground.
The idol fell from his grasp and tumbled down the stone floor, he said.
Later, the high priests performed special poojas and the idol was placed inside the sanctum sanctorum, where the main deity of Lord Venkateswara has been installed, he said. PTI
