Kolkata, Jun 8 (PTI) Two fire fighters were injured in an effort to douse a massive blaze at a godown filled with different chemicals near Jagannath ghat here on Saturday, officials said.
Altogether 20 fire tenders managed to extinguish the flame around 2.45 pm, almost 12 hours after the fire broke out at the godown in the city's business hub, they said.
Police said there was no report of any casualty or any person being trapped.
The injury to the two fire fighters is not serious, the officials said.
Initial investigation has revealed that the fire emanated from a nearby shanty, eventually spreading to the godown, located near the Howrah bridge.
A forensic team has collected samples for a detailed probe, they said.
West Bengal Fire Services Minister Sujit Bose had earlier in the day visited the site and took stock of the situation.
