Vajpayee's Ashes Immersed in Rivers in Jharkhand

Ramgarh/Jharkhand (Jharkhand), Aug 24 (PTI) Ashes of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was today immersed at two places of Jharkhand, a state created when he was at the helm.

Amidst chanting of slokas, the ashes were immersed in the confluence of the Damodar and the Bhairvi rivers near Rajrappa temple in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand.

Vajpayee's 'asthi kalas' was also immersed in the Swarnarekha river in the copper-township of Maubhandar in East Singhbhum district.

Union minister Jayant Sinha, Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda, several state ministers and BJP MPs were present at the programme in Ramgarh district.

Leaders of the AJSU, the JMM, the Congress and the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (prajatantrik) were also present.

BJP East Singhbhum district president Dinesh Kumar led a procession with Vajpayee's ashes in Jamshedpur and later it was taken to Maubhandar.

Paying their home to the departed soul, the leaders said Vajpayee had made the people's dream of Jharkhand state come true.

Vajpayee passed away on August 16 in New Delhi at the age of 93.
