Originally scheduled for June 14, the release date of Junaid Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat's period drama film Maharaj, now remains uncertain as a temporary stay on the film's release has reportedly been ordered by the Gujarat High Court.

The upcoming movie Maharaj marks the acting debut of Aamir Khan's elder son, Junaid Khan. The film is set in pre-independent India and revolves around a religious head of the Vaishnav community. Just a day before its release on Netflix, the Gujarat High Court on Thursday (June 13) stayed the release of the film following a plea made by a Hindu group who claimed that the film hurts the community's religious sentiments. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, Junaid Khan's debut film is produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of YRF Entertainment.
