Migrant Workers Attacked in Gujarat: 'Hang My Son, But Don't Punish Other Biharis', Says Mother of Rape Accused

Gujarat, October 11: After a youth from Bihar allegedly raped a 14-month-old, there has been a lot of backlash against migrants from the state and Uttar Pradesh in Gujarat. According to reports, the accused's mother appealed to Gujarat’s people to punish her son if found guilty, but not drive out everyone out of the state. As quoted in the report, Ramawati Devi said in an emotional appeal before a group of media personnel said, "Hang him if he is found guilty for the crime but do not harass and drive out the Biharis because of my son’s sin." She further added that her son is a minor and he is mentally unsound. He went to Gujarat along with his friends without informing anyone. It was only recently that his parents came to know about where he is staying.  According to reports, the Gujarat Police has so far arrested 342 people from several parts of the state in connection with the attacks. Over the last few days, more than 50,000 migrant workers have been driven out of the state.

In another shocking incident that took place recently from Bihar, a woman was raped, while she was taking her bath in river Ganga. The incident came to the light after a video of the heinous crime went viral. According to reports, while the accused was raping the woman, there was another culprit who was filming the entire incident.
